Happy 4th of July

Well, it time for hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans and chips! I love this time of year because I get to blow things up. Even though I'm about to turn 50, there's still a lot of kid in this heart. I wish I had more friends that still enjoy doing the same things I do. Maybe I should start acting my age. Hope everyone has a wonder and safe 4th!

When a Dear Friend Hurts...I Hurt too!!

I'm sorry, I hurt with you, I'm sorry, I wish I could make the bad feeling go away. I'm here, I'm just here, I hope it helps in a small way, just knowing I'm here. Wish we lived closer, I would come over and we would just sit together, because that's what good friends do. Because, that's what you are...a really, really dear friend. I love you, I'm sorry!

Nights like tonight make me think back to my Teenage Years

Coming home from my parents house tonight made me remember back to when my girlfriends and I would sit on the tailgail of my dad's pick-up, out next to the street and wait for the boys (and friends) to drive by, remember that Daneila? I loved when the evenings lasted longer and it still wasn't dark at 8:00. We could sit out there for hours and talk with friends. Great times!!! The air just has a different smell this time of year. It also makes me think of when we would go to the drive-in on Monday nights, down the street from my house. (remember those days Teresa?) Wish I could still get into the jeans I wore back then! LOL

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Well, I'm busy cleaning house to have the family over tomorrow for Mother's Day.
Nothing too exciting, My sister and her family are coming as well as my Mom and Dad. I'll be baking and my sister's husband will be bringing a smoked brisket! YUM! We just want to have a restful day before my dad starts treatment next week.
My backyard is full of Hummingbirds so we're going to just sit back and watch them for a while. I pray it doesn't rain, we've had so much lately.

I'm thankful I still have my mother to celebrate with and even more grateful for my wonderful son for making me a very lucky Mom.

So, to all the Mothers out there, I wish you a blessed, safe, and peaceful Mother's Day!

Oh my Gosh!!! All I've done is Eat!!!!

On top of everything else, it has rained all day and is scheduled to rain all day tomorrow. We've gotten over 5" so far. The Cowboy's training camp got hit by a tornado (they think) and collapsed the entire structure with 27 rookies, 4 coaches and a file crew inside, 5 people were injured. It was all caught on film. Scary!!!!

The farmer's market was a bust so we went out for breakfast instead. My friends Kristy and Dennis and their son Ketcher joined us. To my surprise, Dennis' sister, Christine met us. It was so nice to see her again. She is 18 weeks pregnant and came with new pictures of their baby girl. She's going to make a wonderful mother! At last...I have a girl to shop for!

After a big breakfast at Coopies, I went home for a little R and R. Couple of hours later I joined my son and a his friend Amber and her parents for a meal at a cafeteria. Yeah! Someone finally wanted to eat like a blue hair!! lol Couldn't wait to get home for a little more R and R. LOL

Well...my husband just got back from the store and brought me a pint of ice cream. As soon as I finish this, I'm going to bed...this new diet I'm on is wearing me out and I wonder way I'm not losing any weight!!! The sad part is the dog will have me up all night because she's afraid of bad weather! Staying up all night always makes me gain weight!!! haha

Not a big Weekend Planned Now...
Thanks to the Swine Flu! I was planning to go to the Fort Worth Mayfest this weekend and the city canceled it. (bummer) All those pour people that had to pull up stakes and load all their stuff back up. Tons of good food gone to waste. That's so sad. It looks like rain again anyway. Just got back from Home Depot were we got a few flowers and some veggies to plant. I heard on the movie Steal Magnolias, that's what old people are suppose to do...grow tomatoes and stuff.
I went out to lunch today with a good friend and we had such a lovely time. This is her picture but she's wearing a wig for Halloween. She's a cutie, I could never pull this look off but it looks great on her! Thank's Kristy for spending time with me today...I need that. Had some good girl talk and went to a scrapbook store and bought a few things. Felt good to get out with a friend!
We stopped in a little store called "The Twisted Pepper" I like to buy spices from them. It's sad but they will be closing this month and I got a chance to talk to the owner today. *snif * I'll miss her shop however, she's opening a farmer's market tomorrow in the same little downtown square...I'm so excited so.... that will become my new weekend activity. I know what your thinking right now...boy! I'm sure jealous of her life, she really knows how live to the fullest!!! LOL

My Sweet Daddy

Yesterday we went to the cancer center and he will be receiving radiation everyday for the next 8 weeks. That will be until the 12th of July. They say it has 85% cure rate with this treatment. Say a prayer for my dad, please. I will be the one taking him everyday so it's like having a new temp. job. He has such a sweet soul. I look forward to spending some one on one time with him. I have learned a lot in watching my parents age. We can never give up...not even for a short period of time. It takes no time at all for your body to turn against you. We truly need to treat our bodies like temples. I think maybe this is the answer to the prayer I've be looking for. I pray that God will inspire me to lose weight, take better care of myself, etc. I think he has opened my eyes to get started. I have always had a positive outlook but, lately a lot has happened and I kind of gave up...I can't let that happen. I am worth fighting for, I need to just find and make the time to take care for me. Give me a "F" give me an"I" well....you know the rest. If you're reading this it means you are special to me. Think about it....love yourself as much as I love you, please! Have a great and health filled day. I think I'm going to run into the kitchen and make me a healthy orange smoothie!! Big bottoms up!!!! lol

Now it's Time for "Me" to Reflect on the Past
IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS!

Even though I don't have anyone looking at my blog yet, soon they will and I want my friends to know how excited I am to be reunited with a dear friend from my past. We had such fabulous times together and I'm surprised we ever let time get between us, sad how that happens. Maybe it's God's way of bringing joy to your life when you need it. A new friend would take a while to know if they are a blessing where as, a dear lost friend is an immediate joy. That's what you are Daniela. We had wonderfully crazy times together and I think you can tell just looking at this picture. This is us back in the early 80's in one of those little photo booths in Richardson Square Mall, I'm 19 yrs. old and she's 16 I think. We were wearing our uniforms from the Cookie Factory, trust me, we were hot! LOL I had been thinking of her so much lately and there had to be a reason, it was time for us to come together again. One morning while getting some orange juice out of the frig. there was a girl on the carton that looked so much like her (not a missing person) haha I'm going to post the picture tomorrow and you can compare the pictures for yourself.
Dear friend I'm so glad your were out there for me to find. I love being BFF's again! It's like no time has past and isn't that what defines true friends?! I can't wait for our next 2 hour phone conversation! lol God Bless!!

Rainy Days and Mondays...

This one won't be getting me down, even though I had no sleep. My 3lb. tiny black Pom is petrified of thunder. Bless her heart; I have no idea what she went through before I got her. Anyway, I have a ton of Easter stuff to put away. Everybody wants to know which holiday is coming up next; they think the house looks empty without holiday decorations up. Thank God the next one isn't until 4th of July! From Sept. to now I decorate for 7 different holidays and I'm pooped!! Here's a couple of picture from last year, I forgot to take any this year.
